·       About Society : Badvel and Sidhout Higher Education Committee was founded way back in 1971 by Late BijivemulaVeera Reddy to cater to the academic needs of the People in his constituency of Badvel.  As a visionary he started many Educational Institutions under the above Committee in which S.B.V.R. Degree College is one among them.

As a natural and political heir to Late Bijivemula Veera Reddy, who passed away in the year 2000, his daughter Smt. K. Vijaya stepped into his shoes and within a short time she has won the hearts and admiration of the people in her constituency as an M.L.A., and as the President of the Educational Committee.  Since then she has kept up the tradition of her father in running the group of Educational Institutions as Secretary-Cum-Correspondent.  Later on she is the Chairperson of the Educational Committee and Secretary-Cum-Correspondent of S.B.V.R. Degree College.  Presently Mr. K. Rithesh Reddy, M.S., has been taken the charge of Correspondent of the College in addition to his responsibilities as the Secretary of the mother concerned Educational Society “Badvel and Sidhout Higher Education Committee”.

·       About College : S.B.V.R. Degree College was started in the year 1979.  Since its inception the college has gone from strength to strength.  Now it is one of the “oldest college” in our District with students’ strength of about 1000.  To keep pace with sweeping changes that are taking place in the higher education sphere, our college acquired and added many Modern Infrastructural facilities and latest Technical I.T. related facilities.

Degree College was established in 1979 in the Badvel Town with a noble Vision and clear perception about the dynamic change to be brought in the field of education. The College is fruitfully put up a journey of 44 long years under the Badvel & Sidhout Higher Education Committee under which the Academy established 8 educational institutions to its credit and with 2 PG Courses accompanied with S.B.V.R. Degree College.

·       The Educational Society was established and registered under Societies Registration Act with registration no 73 of 1974.

·       The Memorandum of Association defines the Aims and Objectives of this society as

a)     To promote education, economic, scientific, social, cultural and other allied activities.

b)     To diffuse useful knowledge to print and publish or to cause to be printed and published newspapers, journals, periodicals, Books and Broachers among the members.

c)     To do all such at her things as are incidental or conductive to the attainment of the above objects and for all-round progress of the Regional Education.

SBVR Degree College, affiliated with Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, and accredited with a B grade by NAAC, has a proud history of serving a diverse student population, predominantly from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities. Its strategic location in the heart of Badvel, coupled with an affordable fee structure, makes it accessible to students who might otherwise lack access to higher education. Aims and Objectives of the Institutional Development Plan

1.     Formulate a Strategic Action Plan: Develop a systematic and programmed approach to institutional development, incorporating conscious initiatives that address academic, administrative, and infrastructural needs. This ensures that all efforts are coordinated and directed toward achieving measurable outcomes.

2.     Promote Academic Excellence: Enhance the quality of education through curriculum innovation, research promotion, and continuous faculty development. By introducing new programs, upgrading teaching methodologies, and fostering a research culture, the college aims to prepare students for global challenges.

3.     Leverage Technology for Efficiency: Strengthen teaching-learning processes and administrative operations by integrating advanced technologies, such as ICT-enabled classrooms, e-learning platforms, and automated systems. This objective aims to enhance accessibility, engagement, and operational efficiency.

·       Named after a renowned philosopher- thinker, poet, sage and yogi, Vemana, Yogi Vemana University, established in the year 2006, by an Act of A.P state legislature is a blessing in disguise for the students and researchers of the backward Rayalseema region in general and Y.S.R district in particular. The erstwhile Sri Venkateswara University Post Graduate Centre was elevated to a University with a humble and noble intention of providing a more conducive environment to impart value-based education and promote quality research and service. The University is committed to nurture and uphold healthy academic standards which contribute to the social, intellectual and moral development. About The University is situated about 15 kms away from the historic Kadapa City on the Kadapa –Pulivendula road amidst serene surroundings and has a sprawling campus of about 652 acres with built-up area 78088.48 sq.mts. With humble beginnings, the University made rapid strides towards overall development and has sufficient infrastructural facilities such as buildings with academic ambience, library, modern science and research laboratories equipped with sophisticated instruments, Super Computer facility, ISRO Geosphere Biosphere Atmospheric Research Facility, Agri-Science Park, spacious hostels, gym, day-care centre, Botanical Garden, RUSA Instrumentation Facility, RUSA SEM Facility, and a vast playground. Besides, a building complex is made available in Gurukulam complex for the purpose of conducting training short term vocational and job oriented courses on a continuous basis. At present as many as 113 affiliated colleges offering undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses are affiliated to the University, which include P.G., U.G., Law, B.Ed., B.P.Ed. and D.P.Ed.

S.B.V.R. Degree College, Badvel, has completed its first cycle of NAAC accreditation with a CGPA of 2.56. The college was reaccredited by NAAC in 2025, securing an improved CGPA of 2.91.

This progress reflects the institution’s continuing commitment to quality education, effective teaching and learning practices, student support, infrastructure development, and overall institutional excellence.
